DESCRIPTION
Learn from acclaimed dance/theatre artists and receive intensive training in devising techniques developed by award-winning companies including Detour, Mugwumpin, and Tectonic Theater Project. The physical techniques of the movement portion of the workshop will prepare students for the storytelling portion, starting with two movement- based ensemble pieces, before learning the Moment Work Technique: Level 1 (Elements of the Stage) and Level 2 (Writing Performance). Students will be supported in the development of one original solo work and engaged in a rigorous conversation about performance as a tool for social change.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS
Actors who want to activate their bodies in the creation of new theatre, dancers who want to experiment with narrative and/or dialogue, and performers who want to expand their knowledge of devising and collaborating in an ensemble process rooted in community and social justice. All body types and experience levels are encouraged.

SCHOLARSHIPS: 80% of ALL Summer Arts students get direct scholarships. The more you need the more you’ll get! So be sure to fill out the scholarship application and have your parents submit their last tax filing; funds are based on financial need.

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MAY 15. Don't delay though, the sooner you complete your application the greater chance you have of getting the maximum amount of financial aid!
